Sketch Scribe: Writers Announced

In the hunt for great sketch comedy London SketchFest is going back to where it all begins – the writer’s room.

For 2015 we're opening our doors to aspiring and amateur comedy writers and giving them a platform to be recognised and engage with members of the comedy industry in a new competition called Sketch Scribe.

Expect hilarious comedy in the making as our super-troupe of professional comedians tackle scripts from the minds of 10 budding young writers and perform them live in fron of a panel of industry judges.

Sketch Scribe forms part of the festival’s free programme at this year’s London Sketch Comedy Festival, taking place at The Artworks in Elephant & Castle on Friday 1st May at 7pm.

With the help of BBC Comedy Producer Laura Shaw and Helena Murphy Scripted Development Coordinator at Sony Pictures Entertainment, we have selected 10 successful entries from over 50 submissions from writers around the country. Each successful writer will have a chance to see their sketch performed live by professional sketch comedians with one winner being selected by the judges at the live competition.

The 2015 Sketch Scribe Selection are:

Operation (Richard Law)
Wedding (Mike Sheldon)
Boris Nonson & Mr Spellcheck (Dave Bibby)
Retail There-apy (Charlotte Pearson)
Jealous Friends (Ben Daly)

The 2015 Sketch Scribe super-troupe is comprised of comedians from various successful comedy acts performing on the live circuit:
