Festival Venue

The 2016 London Sketch Comedy Festival is returning to East London where it all began, this time setting up in Hackney House across numerous floors in what we're calling the House of Sketch:

Hackney House

Every year SketchFest goes on a mission to discover the best new and undiscovered comedy acts as well as introduce you to new and different areas of London.

For 2016 we are returning to East London, to visit the new home of Hackney House,  a hub for new investment to Hackney and East London to support local businesses with their plans for growth - a place to do business, nurture ideas, stimulate growth and to be entertained.

Hackney House was first conceived in 2012 as a way to present to the world the Real Heart of London; where the historic East End met the Olympic legacy, right on the edge of the City. A place to live, to work and to invest. A place where communities from all over the world have settled for centuries. Becoming a stage for Hackney to continue celebrating and supporting what is rapidly becoming one of the most exciting creative, cultural, commercial and technological clusters in Europe, if not the world, we think it's a fabulous place to celebrate the next generation of British comedy.

The House of Sketch
The theme for this year's festival will see three floors of comedy take place across two days:

Entering the House of Sketch on the ground floor you’ll find the main stage with all the festival’s biggest shows. It’s the biggest space for the biggest laughs and will feature:

  • The Best New Act Competition (featuring the best up-and-coming new and unsigned acts)
  • The Feature Series (showcasing the UK’s hottest comedy groups in 2016)

Advancing to the second floor will take you to the main bar with roof terrace and our second stage for a more social setting. Here we’ll be showcasing the best new writing, filmaking talent alongside some more live shows for a fun and vibrant mix:

  • Sketch Screen (a competition for the funniest comedy shorts, hilarious films from amazing talent)
  • Sketch Scribe (our new writers competition with scripts performed by a super troupe of sketch comedians)

Moving up to the third and final floor for those lucky few will await a series of hidden shows in an immersive setting with some house favourites – comedians who excel in their ability to create truly standout comedy. Look out for how to grab tickets to these shows:

  • Secret Shows (secret VIP shows for the adventurer set in an intimate space for truly up close comedy)
