The SketchFest Awards - awarding awesomeness

London SketchFest awards

As part of our commitment to artistic development, London SketchFest hosts a Best New Act comeptition, honouring outstanding work and highlighting the most successful new and unsigned acts.

Judged by an expert panel, these awards are our way of supporting new sketch comedy and paying recognition to great work. A symbol of excellence, our award logos are given out to winning troupes so you can be sure they're ones to watch.

A handpicked panel of industry professionals will be judging the awards, providing their expert opinion. Panel members for 2016 are:

Kate Copstick, The Scotsman Comedy Critic
Sharon LougherThe Metro TV and Comedy Critic
Alice Jones, The Independent Deputy Arts Editor
Rupert Hawksley, The Telegraph Comedy Editor

Sketch Screen film competition

In addition to our Best New Act competition we also run Sketch Screen, a film competition looking for exceptional comedy film talent working with sketch comedy. To discover great talent we both scout and open submissions. We then screen our official selection in front of an expert panel of industry figures who vote on a winner and a runner-up. The winner will receive the chance to shoot a new video with Exposure TV.

We are proud to host an expert panel of judges from across the TV comedy industry for 2016:

Alex Estrella, Managing Director, Exposure Films
Josh Cole, Comedy Producer, Big Talk
Rebecca Pringle Taylor Singh, Comedy Director

Sketch Scribe comedy writer's competition

In the hunt for great sketch comedy London SketchFest is going back to where it all begins – the writer’s room. Sketch Scribe scours the country for undiscovered written talent, looking for writing that has never been performed live. From written submissions, we'll be picking 10 scripts and have them perfromed live by a sketch super-troupe (a sketch troupe made up of other well-known sketch troupes) in front of a panel of industry judges. The winner will receive a one-on-one mentoring session with a professional working in TV scripted development.

A range of comedy industry professionals from radio, TV and online form the 2016 panel for Sketch Scribe:

Dave Cohen, Comedy Writer (Huffington Post, Have I got News For You, Horrible Histories)
Clarissa Maycock, BBC Comedy Producer
